Cheap Kids Toys

2009 October 22
by Dad

With Christmas just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about presents again. After all, in just under a few months, Christmas will be here and kids are going to be looking for their toys! Fortunately, there are a lot of toys for kids that can be both satisfying to them and save you some money. Let’s start by taking a look at the toys your child will enjoy this season.

* Stuffed Animals

Stuffed animals are great, cheap baby toys. There isn’t a baby on this planet who isn’t intrigued by an interesting stuffed animal, which makes them great gifts. Many people jump to spending hundreds of dollars on gifts that young children do not understand and just can’t appreciate. Sometimes the bargain stuffed animal is the way to go in this situation.

* Kids “Ride On” Toys

There are many toys on the market that kids can entertain themselves with for hours, and a lot of these happen to be toys they can physically interact with, such as kids ride on toys. Toys like this usually manifest themselves as horses, sit and spins etc and can often be purchased for very little money whatsoever. When in doubt, choose a kids ride on toy!

*Kids Learning Toys

Perhaps the best service you can do for your child this season is to provide them with toys that will help them to learn. Many people consider kids learning toys to be a much better investment than toys that do nothing more than help children to pass the time. Of course, there are plenty of interactive toys out there on the market that are very expensive and are basically computers. The fact is, you don’t need to purchase these, as there are analog learning toys (such as the ones we grew up on as children) that are massively effective in helping children learn to spell, count, write etc. These toys are often very inexpensive due to the fact that they are being virtually replaced by new, computer-based learning tools. Most people will tell you that these are just as effective, however, and they are right.

* Kids Wooden Toys

Kids Wooden toys are a great way to treat your child to an inexpensive gift this season. Wooden toys have for centuries been the standard, and there is no reason why they should be considered any less enjoyable or modern now than they ever have before. Small children, especially infants, can half a lot of fun playing with wooden toys, especially if they are made to look like popular characters. It is rare that a wooden toy is actually expensive as well, which makes this gift idea even more convenient for the buyer.

* New Baby Toys

Although this has thus far focused on cheap products that have higher-end counterpoint, baby toys are inexpensive virtually by definition. Just about any baby toy you find, including rattles, picture books etc. will cost you next to nothing and will provide your child with hours of fun each day. There may be no better deal than buying a new baby toy this year.

Hopefully this guide has been of at least some help to you in making your decisions. Always remember that you most definitely do not have to go broke to make your child happy!

Christmas Toys

2009 October 22
by Dad

If you’re like most parents, you want to make your child happy when Christmas time rolls around. You were once a kid, so you know that on Christmas Eve, they will be thinking of nothing other than what they will be getting for Christmas. Of course, it is your responsibility not to disappoint them.

There are many ways to find ideas for Christmas toys, including asking friends who have children of a similar age, going to the local toy store, or even doing an online search for the Top 10 Christmas Toys. Some of the more popular toys will be discussed below.

The best thing about this short yet high-quality list is that these are cheap toys, but only in the sense of price. There are two toys for toddlers and one fits in the ‘baby toys’ category.

Bounce & Spin Zebra

If you have a toddler that ranges from 12 to 36 months, then the Bounce & Spin Zebra is something you should consider. It won the Hot Toy Award from Toys ‘R Us in 2006.
If you hear the words bouncing and spinning and you have a toddler, of course safety is going to be the first thing that comes to your mind. You have no reason to worry. It’s obvious that safety was their number one concern when designing this toy. It’s low to the ground, has a lock mechanism so it won’t move until your child is sitting on it correctly, and it has an activity handlebar for him or her to hold onto for balance.

Speaking of balance, this toy will help improve that necessary life skill. It will also help with coordination and overall gross motor skills. The Bounce & Spin Zebra can move 360 degrees. It plays five happy songs and has a spinning ball with lights and music in the front. It also has an attractable look with lots of fun colors.

Your child is sure to spend a lot of time using this toy. You can rest easy, as it is safe and stable. The toy requires AAA batteries, which you must buy separately.

Vetch Kidizoom Toy Camera
If you have a child between the ages of 3 and 9, this is a great option. This bright yellow camera with orange borders can do so much, including take more than 200 pictures and record over five minutes of video. The video taken can be played back on a television or personal computer.

This toy is durable and easy to use. It also offers a photo slide show, which your child can have a lot of fun editing, considering he or she will have access to various pictures, frames and interchangeable faceplates.

There are also three games on the camera, which can provide your child with hours of fun.

The Vetch Kidizoom has won several toy awards.

Buzz Ligthyear

This is a great toy for any child three years or older. It’s extremely popular because of the Toy Story movie.
Buzz Lightyear has a retractable helmet, pop-out wings, and uses the same voice from the movie – which isn’t too loud, by the way.

Conclusion

You might choose to go shopping for another toy. This short list only guarantees that you will be buying a toy millions of other children have enjoyed.

Pay Cash this Christmas!

babybargains

The time financially we all fear the most is upon us, yes Christmas. But don’t let it. We want to help by asking to give yourself a budget and stick to it by paying with cash rather then giving yourself bad debt using credit.

Just by using one of the many tempting credit cards or opening an account with a shop in order to save that little extra might seem like a good idea, at a time when when Christmas is round the corner and there is so much to buy for the family. But as soon as that bill comes to your door, that great idea is not so great now. shopping by just using cash give you more controll on your spending and forces you to use only what you have, and will save you the worry and maybe more debt in the future.

Hugh Grant backing a health website

by Dad

Actor Hugh Grant is said to being 100% behind a new health advice website aimed towards all walks of life who are worried or concerned about their health or share stories with other patients.

The main reason Hugh Grant is behind this new project is down to his Mother, who sadly died of Cancer. After doing some research on Google about her condition he found that most health website were overrun by adverts and not enough medical advice. After coming across Health Talk Online he told the BBC that he was hooked due to it being run by real Oxford Doctors given real advice.

This website has a great section for Pregnancy and Children from breastfeeding to screening. I myself have already bookmarked this award winning site.

Keep up the good work Hugh!

While you’ll pregnant?

Save as much as possible before the baby is born, regardless of your future plans. It’s sensible advice for everyone to have three months’ emergency money up your sleeve and if you haven’t got it already, the last few months of your working life before birth are a good time to build it up. Chances are you’ll be too tired to go out and may not feel like buying new clothes. So use your surplus income wisely.

Single parent income tips

1. Go slowly. You’re not going to change overnight.

2. Be committed.

3. Borrow books from the library on how to save money.

4. Find which money saving techniques work for you and stick to them

5. Think of ways to save money on your grocery bills such as avoiding costly pre-prepared foods.

6. Make a note in your diary to review your personal finances at least every six months.

7. Work with a friend who also wants to save money.

Washable Nappies

Mums-to-be debating whether to use disposable nappies or reusables should know that many local councils now offer a grant of £30 to help with the initial cost of washables.
Give them a call and see if they also have a nappy lending kit so you can try out real nappies - and save yourself the £1,000 it’ll cost you in disposables before your tot finally starts using his potty.

Unwanted Stuff

Don’t be afraid to ask your midwife and/or health visitor for help, they visit lots of mums who are only too glad to give up unwanted items, also your health visitor can help with items such as safety gates, fire guards etc.

Take Advantage

Take advantage of all the free samples and vouchers you get in your Bounty pack for a start!) Work out a budget and stick to it. You will have to make some lifestyle changes, but we don’t miss our Friday night takeaway. Even things like shopping around for a new mortgage and changing our gas and electric suppler saved us some pennies. It may be a bit of an adjustment at first but it is amazing how quckly you will adapt.

Your Loyalty Points

Make a point of using your Boots advantage card or other loyalty cards in the run up to Christmas for weekly household necessities such as toothpaste etc. and bump up your points so you can use them to buy presents. Look out for special ‘double points’ promotions too - many stores have frequent incentives in the run-up to Christmas so take advantage of earning even more points. Read Martin Lewis’s article on the ‘Boots Treasure Trove’ to find out how to take full advantage of all that Boots offers.

Nursery care and safety tips

The first thought after your fantastic news is getting a nursery ready for your new arrival. It can be a daunting task. Don’t go mad when decorating as your child wont stay a baby for long. Keep it low key, light colours. Create something that you can change as your child gets older. One simple piece new parents forget to do is the ceiling! Baby’s spend a lot of their time on the back So give them something to look or interact with. Shapes, colours, low lights is always good.

A very good tip is to buy a blackout blind which stops any light coming through the window, helping your baby into health sleep routines. we at Little Offers have put together a few simple tips to help you get started and on your way.

1. Baby’s have love to grab anything they can. To stop anything tipping over, keep cots or changing units from windows or shelves with objects on away.

2. Keep all windows locked.

3. Insert plug socket covers into unused electric plugs.

4. Keep all changing accessories including nappies and toiletries out of reach.

5. Keep your nursery floor clear of any items, incase you trip while holding your baby.
