Nursery care and safety tips

The first thought after your fantastic news is getting a nursery ready for your new arrival. It can be a daunting task. Don’t go mad when decorating as your child wont stay a baby for long. Keep it low key, light colours. Create something that you can change as your child gets older. One simple piece new parents forget to do is the ceiling! Baby’s spend a lot of their time on the back So give them something to look or interact with. Shapes, colours, low lights is always good.

A very good tip is to buy a blackout blind which stops any light coming through the window, helping your baby into health sleep routines. we at Little Offers have put together a few simple tips to help you get started and on your way.

1. Baby’s have love to grab anything they can. To stop anything tipping over, keep cots or changing units from windows or shelves with objects on away.

2. Keep all windows locked.

3. Insert plug socket covers into unused electric plugs.

4. Keep all changing accessories including nappies and toiletries out of reach.

5. Keep your nursery floor clear of any items, incase you trip while holding your baby.

Cot Advice.

Moses Baskets. Naturally you will want to be near to your baby day and night. This is wear a moses basket come in. Make sure the handles are sturdy and meet in the centre when lifting the basket. You can find a range of moses basket offers here.

Cots. Cots are suitable from newborn to 3 years. Please make sure that the cot you buy: Meets the BSEN 716-1 safety code. Has a tight fitting mattress with no spaces around it. A drop side mechanism you can operate with one hand. Adjustable mattress height. Lockable, swivel castors.

Cot Beds. When your baby becomes a toddler, it is then time to convert you cot into a cotbed (junior bed). Please follow the instructions that come with your cot carefully.

Nursery Temperature.

Please take note. It is very important to keep your baby at the right temperature while sleeping. Ideally, keep the room temperature  above 16 C (60F) but below 20 C (68 F).
